What is this all about?
Welcome! What is this site about?
BackLink : if you click some text on an Internet web page and it takes you to another website - yours
Tactics : Different methods to succeed in your goal - Knowing things that work and things that don’t
Goal : To appear on the first page of a search engine list - like google, yahoo etc for many search terms
After jumping into the world of publishing websites and hoping that I can generate lots of traffic, I suddenly learnt that there is much to learn in the area of SEO - Search Engine Optimisation. BackLinks are a very important part of how search engines rank your site.
There is lots of information about backlinks on various sites. There are a few tools that attempt to help you create backlinks, and most importantly there are a few tactics that may or may not help your ranking.
Google is of course the dominant search engine at present so much of my research and experiments is centred around Google.

There seems to be two themes for BackLinks - Quality and Quantity. Which one is best? Well, sign up to my feed and stay tuned. Also take the time to read the archives on everything I’ve found.
I take the time to review lots of tools and tricks saving you the effort. I’m also trying to promote a few sites of my own so what you will learn will be based on experience and not all opinion.
If you have much experience in this area I very interested to get your input and willing to post articles and promote products - especially if I can get to try them out for myself.
For those of you who don’t know all that much about what I’m talking about, I’m compiling a reference type section to explain this stuff in plain English. If I can get translators, I’ll certainly try some other languages - let me know if you are interesting in helping with that.
To give you some background on what my values are, I don’t like junk mail, spam and I usually don’t answer cold calls. I’m not rude I just don’t appreciate being pushed - I’d rather make the approach myself. I’m also a software developer so I do not agree with piracy or not giving credit back to the developers. I don’t think I’m overly opinionated and usually only push something if I know I can back my claim. I value quality work and good design. With over 20 years in the business I have a very good background for picking out what stands out and what works. I enjoy looking behind the scenes to see how the engine works.
With that knowledge you might have guessed that shortly I’ll probably be producing something to assist myself and you create these back links. I understand the white / grey / black hat lines and think I fall some where between the white and grey - meaning I do have ethics but am prepared to bend the rules a little for the purpose of efficiency.
Hope the introduction meant something to you - honesty and integrity are great values. Open, clear and concise are also top on my list.
I’m going to try and bridge the gap between a new website owner and the hard core SEO’s (search engine optimisers).
