Importance of Anchor Text in BackLinks
Just to be clear, What is Anchor Text?
Well, Anchor Text is the descriptive labelling on the link (or know as hyperlink) as it appears on the web page.
Here are 3 examples :

Search engines weight hyperlinks more favourably if the anchor text more closely matches keywords or search terms. In the above example this back link : Debt Relief and Debt Consolidation would be the best to use. In fact it could even be improved by shortening to one phrase : Debt Consolidation.
Google is not going to love even this anchor text. Why? Well because this post or website has nothing to do with Debt Consolidation.
This all may seem very simple but it doesn’t take long to see evidence of many sites that don’t take advantage of this simple tactic. There are too many links out there pointing directly to full URLs or “Click Heres”.
I’m going to keep this little gem of advice short and sweet - but I’ll be referring back to it constantly due to it’s importance.

Whenever you establish a website, or if you are improving an old one, it’s important to do some research and find good keywords.
The best keyword is one that is highly searched but has low competition….. When you find the one, best thing to do it use that for every backlink that you can.
Once you dominate that term, maybe you can move up to a higher competition term.
