OnlyWire - 20 Social Bookmarking Backlinks in one go
Social Networking is proving to be a great way to get backlinks quickly. This is mainly because they get indexed fast and picked up by all sorts of other sites. On top of that people can search your submissions and if you’ve tagged and labelled it correctly - find your post another way.
I’ve added a new link on the right hand site of this site - it looks like this :
OnlyWire provides a service that enables you to enter login information for 20 (at present) different Social Media sites and with one click will send info to all of them.
Here is an example of what you get when you click on the button.
This means directly after submitting my post I can easily add it to these 20 sites. Of course you need to go to the effort of creating logins and linking for these sites once, but the value of the backlinks makes it worthwhile.
Did I say it was free! Yep - and I’ve tested it and it works well.
If you add this to your site and I like your post, I’ll use it.
If you like this article, I suggest you setup a login, link your accounts and do likewise for me.
Comments are welcome on your experiences!
Here is the link to OnlyWire.

BackLinks.com leaks user data
I found BackLinks.com a little while ago but haven’t reported on it because it is a blatant disregard to the google terms and services - They Buy and Sell links.
I wouldn’t use their service - you might get some advance in page rank to start, but then be penalised and maybe even banned.
On top of that - you’re personal info could have been leaked to the world. Whoops!

The more I research into BackLink Tactics the more likely that I will eventually stumble upon something that really works. I think I just found it :
This is a tool that helps you improve your search engine rankings. Brad Callen is the author of this amazing software. He’s made millions on the internet and knows his stuff.
Here is a little snapshot of what he has learnt :
Google ranks websites by those that are deemed to have the most authority on the given topic/keyword.
Google pays much less attention to what is actually on your web page itself than what most people think. Yes, you heard me right. You don’t actually even need to mention your keyword anywhere on your website to rank highly for the keyword!
Google looks at who’s “voting” for a website, to determine how highly it ranks. If important sites are “voting” for your website, you will rank highly.
You must know EXACTLY why the top 10 ranked sites in Google are currently ranked where they are. You can’t guess by simply looking at their web page itself.
His tool works out for you the best backlinks that your competitors use to rank highly. I’ve checked out a few of his success stories and don’t know how some of these sites are ranking no1 in keyword google searches - but they are!

I’m buying this product and will try and get a few of my sites ranked up! I’ll keep you all updated with progress reports.
Link Tricking
There is another strategy that is being used by some ingenious link builders which has created it’s own term - Link Tricking. This involves a very sly and cunning approach to webmasters to make them think that they are adding value to their site by putting your link and information on their pages.
Google is not favouring traditional text links and punishing those that buy and sell links. Link Tricking attempts to get the sort of natural links that Google treats valid and ranks highly.
How do they Link Trick
I first want to point out that I haven’t tried this myself and probably wouldn’t. The knowledge that this type of link building exists is still valuable though - in case I’m contacted for this and also what to look out for.
Here is one example of some steps to Link Tricking:
- Contact the owner of a website and introduce yourself as a frequent user
- Compliment the site
- Give an example of how you use the product or service of the site you are promoting (the link you want added)
- At no time link yourself to the site
- Explain how the link to your site would give value
- Congratulate again and say that you will come back often.
Obviously you would have to find a potential website that would be related to the link you are trying to add. There are many website owners out there that may not know much about SEO and may not realise what a link like this means to the site.
I’m sure their might be many more link tricking methods out there to create some quality BackLinks. Let me know if you have any you would like to share.
Google Page Rank Updates - Patience is Required
So you gone to all the hard work of creating a great site with targeted keywords, unique content and even worked on getting some quality backlinks, but still your Google Page Rank hasn’t changed.
Why?
Well the reason for this is that google doesn’t update the published Page Rank (accessible by all the tools) very regularly - In fact only every 2 or 3 months. That’s not to say that the actual page rank (not divulged) is still not used to place your site on the correct page in the search results - I believe it is.
There is a concept called Projected Page Rank, and there is a website that has a tool to attempt to create this. How accurate is it? Well from what I can tell in some cases it can be, in others it’s not.
Here is the site to try out :
http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction
Note - for this tools to work you need a minumum of 100 backlinks to start - so not so good for those startup sites.
Patience is required for any backlink tactics - especially to get page rank updates.
My next challenge is to find a tool that tells us what page our site sits on in a Google search. So far I’ve found a few that claim to gather this but none have worked yet. I might even create one myself. Wouldn’t it be nice for Google to give us some easier to read statistics? Google used to (not after December 2006) provide a Google API Key that allowed some more interrogation of your search rankings. The API Key went along with the now obsolete Google Search API.

BackLink and PageRank Info Within Searches
In my quest to bring you the best BackLink tactics I must have the best information to rate a backlink. Google Page rank is very important for finding a good possible backlink. I’ve found a couple of tools that automatically link into Google and Yahoo searches to give some very valuable information.
These two free tools are :
They are both Firefox Addins and are definitely worth grabbing. SEO for Firefox is provided by SEOBook and they claim that 130,000 webmasters use this tool. It has many uses but I’m just going to show off a few.
I use both together because they show slightly different views and I find that it’s reassuring that two tools return the same results.
Here is an example of me searching Google for Power Boats:
There is so much information that it would take more than a mere blog post to describe, but the important thing to check out is the value after PR (Page Rank). If the Page Rank is 4 or above then the site is doing great for that keyword search and a backlink from that site will help your Page Rank increase.
SEO Quake is great for single pages that you visit too :
The above image shows SEO Quake inserting a toolbar on top of the page showing lots of relevant SEO info.
There are many tip and tricks in reading and using these values. The purpose of this blog post was to introduce you to these two great tools and then over time I’ll teach you how to be a power user with them.
A teaser though - Wouldn’t it be great to see how your direct competitors have obtained a good Page Rank from their BackLinks?
Overlinking Example
I find this quite funny and hope you will too. In my constant quest for banklink juice and the best tactics I stumbled upon a blog dedicated to this topic. The site is titled Get More Visitors - which is a good name for sure. The content doesn’t look that bad either. Check out the site here : http://getmorevisitors.blogspot.com/
So you would think that the author might use his tactics to his advantage to increase his Google page rank right? We’ll I used the SEO for Firefox plugin and looked up the stats on the site :
This site has a Google Page Rank of 0 - because it obviously has used some major backlink directory submissions. See how there are 155 Million Yahoo backlinks! Amazing! The number of Edu and Gov backlinks are huge too!.
Putting this into a Google search : link:http://getmorevisitors.blogspot.com/ returned only 1 backlink for Google.
This is a classic example of a backlink tactic gone wrong and I’m not sure if the site will ever rank well in Google because of it.
Do Follow
NoFollow attribute
If you haven’t learnt by now - Google introduced a tag on links called ‘nofollow’ and got pretty much all of the blog software developers to turn it on for links by default. This stops Google from indexing the backlink and did put a huge dent in the number of spam comments that were being created on blogs. All the social bookmarking and image sharing sites also use the nofollow attribute.
Here is an example of the nofollow attribute in use for this site :
<a href="http://backlinktactics.com" rel="nofollow">Backlink Tactics</a>
It seems that things have quietened down a little bit on the blog comment spam arena - especially because most blogs are comment moderated and have spam detection plugins.
Getting backlinks to your site that are nofollow is still valuable for generating traffic and also for Yahoo searches, but doesn’t help your Google Page Rank. Saying that generic traffic can help boost your visitors and in turn potentially create better organic traffic and valuable backlinks.
Do Follow
“Do Follow” is referring to a site that doesn’t use the nofollow tag. This blog is one. Why have I done this? Well because the value of the links on my site are high (if I end up with a good Page Rank) without the nofollow links then it will drive traffic. How will it drive traffic? Webmasters actively search for Do Follow blogs and there seems to be movements out there promoting them. There are even search engines out there specifically looking for them.
Here are a list of Do Follow Directories:
There are also search engines dedicated to finding Do Follow blogs too :
Remember to check the Page Rank of the site - especially where the comment is going to appear. This could create some very good backlinks if you can find high page rank keyword targeted blogs to comment on.
There is a trade off here though. If too many low page rank sites backlink to your site too quickly then it could negatively affect your page rank.
Low Page Rank Sites
There may be future value in low page rank sites. If you think the site is good it might increase in Page Rank and then your backlink will be worth more to your own Page Rank.
Link to Different Pages on your Site
Don’t keep backlinking to your home page - choose different individual pages on your site and link to those - much better for making more of your site have a good page rank - not just one page.
WordPress Do Follow Plugin
I’ve overwritten the default WordPress nofollow status with a plugin called No Follow Free. It’s worth checking out if you have a Wordpress blog and are interested in generating traffic purely because your blog is giving valuable Google backlink comments.
